Hi! Welcome to Rock and River Flower Collective. We are a group of six flower growers who sell high quality flowers and greenery wholesale to florists and designers around Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

This is our third year in business and together we have over 35 years of professional flower growing experience.

We love what we do and love working with our customers to provide our community with fresh and beautiful products, grown without harmful pesticides. We grow flowers you will love.

Normally each farm is assigned ingredients to bring for a recipe. This week 4 farms each sent a bucket of premade bouquets! It’s fun to see the different styles across farms and see what we each have growing!

Dahlias in June and July was a thing this year for our collective. Between six farms we’ve had a steady supply. But the biggest dahlia days are right around the corner. Ask to see our fall lookbook for all the varieties we are growing!

We are Rock and River Flower Collective, a five farm group selling locally grown flowers wholesale to designers and florists around the DMV. Our online shop opens every Monday and is open all week until Saturday evening. Flowers are available for pick up or delivery the next Wednesday. We also take custom pre-orders.

It’s been a tough month for flower farmers in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia . High temps for weeks and weeks. Rain finally came last night to our five farms.

Here’s some pics of what is growing now in our fields. Lisianthus, blue Didiscus, salmon Oklahoma zinnias, floret zinnias, apricot shades of statice, Henry Eilers rudbeckia, gorgeous Terracotta Lisianthus and Alpenglow floret zinnias. There’s so much more, too!

We are at the end of our regular delivery season. Thank you to all who have purchased locally grown flowers from our collective. Please contact us to get on our list for winter tulips. We are all forcing bulbs and plan to have flowers in early Jan.

These are ‘Seaton’s je’dore’ heirloom mums from @whisperingflowerfarm that are fully 5” across and are incredible beauties that seem to glow with their golden petal tips and light yellow centers. A truly special variety. The ‘cafe au lait’ of heirloom mums. Btw, there are many spellings of this variety out there so I went to the source—the National Chrysanthemum Society. If they don’t know, who does? But however it’s spelled they are delectable.

We are all planning to do more mums next year and @coolhollowflowers hopes to have a dedicated mum tunnel for next fall. They are such a perfect fall flower for late weddings, events and Thanksgiving. #heirloommums #locallygrownflowers #rockandriverflowers

That’s the gorgeous ‘Zelmira’ lily.

Some farmers have already had frostmas (that’s what we call our killing frost day—it’s a bit of a celebration for some, especially if it’s a nice late date, like this year). It ends our daily hustle, but most of us are very busy clearing fields to get seeds in the ground for next spring’s flowers and getting our precious ranunculus and anemones planted. It’s also perennial planting time! The peonies have arrived. 💐

Over the winter we will plan the crop rotation for next year, get a few more seeds, make lookbooks for our customers and work on making ordering and logistics in ge real smoother in an effort to improve during our second season.
